Adobe Flash Player Software Review

Right now we are up to version 11 of the Flash player and almost daily it seems as if Adobe is releasing a new version of Flash that either adds a feature or fixes a problem or updates something else. Indeed, if you do not install the new versions, in most cases, video animations that were operating quite nicely a couple of hours earlier will be telling that you have to install a new version of Flash Player and restarting the application before it will work correctly again.

Fortunately, Flash Player has become so entwined in the Web now that Adobe cannot really charge for it so you get it for free from Adobe (they have so many other products that they can literally afford to give this one away and it also works with most of the products that cost so they win on both counts). Installation is actually a snap, although it can be a bit hard on your eyesight if you spot the Flash update sign. Since there is very little contrast between the "yes" install box and the rest of the text, it is easy to miss the installation two or three times before you realize that they want you to do something.

It is usually then that you slow down and read the short text box and see the checkbox they want you to click on before the install begins.

In itself the Flash Player update is quite quick. Once you click the yes box, it downloads about 5 or 10 MB of new program update and quickly integrates it into the old Flash as the dark blue band turns a slightly paler shade of blue to indicate the Flash update is completed.

When the installation completes, the program that was running restarts and works correctly.

The latest version of Flash Player includes updates for key code classes that are needed to ensure that Flash-based programs continue to run correctly. The first is video, the H.264 video codec, and the second is audio, the HE-AAC audio codec that actually allows Apple-based audio to run on Flash-based programs.

The importance of Flash Player Version 11 and later cannot be underrated as it allows high-definition video to be shown as well as allowing viewing Web content altogether. It provides support to the browsers of Windows, Max OS and Linux, as well as for native 64 bit operating system.

It is the key to the Web and high-definition video.
